The Importance of Prenatal Education

One may ask, “Is education during prenatal development possible?” Babies tend to pick up things right after childbirth, but what really happens in the first nine months? Are they receptive to the environment outside the mother’s womb?

Anthony DeCasper from the University of South Carolina conducted a study that proved that babies can learn even in their early stages of development. In the study, he instructed expecting mothers to read Dr. Seuss out loud. When the babies were born, they were tested to see if they recognized the story and if they were able to tell their mother’s voices apart from other readers. It turns out that the babies did notice similar vocal patterns. However, although the womb is coated by embryonic fluid, which muffles sound, fetuses are still able to pick up the rhythms and patterns of vocal chords.

Another common method for prenatal learn is by playing music. A lot of the things experienced by a pregnant mother is shared with the unborn child, so it is important to expose him or her to pleasant things early on. Whatever stress the mother experiences while pregnant may have an effect on the child as well. Tools like the Baby Plus Prenatal Education System help with development. Many parents who used this system are proud to say that their babies are calm, alert and intelligent.
